You could become a certified teacher for Peoria Public Schools in less than one year! Peoria Public Schools has partnered with the University of West Florida to provide an alternative certification program to qualified candidates. PPS has agreed to cover 100% of the tuition cost for those who complete the program in the allotted time and commit to work for PPS for three years after program completion.
The program is online and self-paced which allows applicants to complete courses around their current work schedule.

Flexible Class Schedule
This is an online program that is self-paced and has daily enrollment. You can start as soon as all proper paperwork has been completed. This also means there is no set class time, you work on your schedule.
Two Years to Complete the Program
Coursework is self-paced.
Program Details:
- Bachelor’s degree is required prior to application.
- Candidates have 2 years to fully complete the program.
- Candidates commit to 3 years of employment with Peoria
Public Schools following program completion. - Candidates earn 6 to 15 credit hours toward select masters
programs. - Program is CAEP (Council for the Accreditation of Educator
Preparation) accredited and recognized to prepare candidates
to meet individual state standards. - Applicants will have to commit to a week of student teaching
during the school day. Will have to work around their work
schedule. - Tutoring is offered through all phases of the program. Retired
teachers and current teachers serve as tutors.
